Galvanic Facial Treatment
Hydrating Treatment - This facial can be considered a 'non-surgical face lift'. This treatment involves the use of a device that uses low-level galvanic (electric) current to facilitate the transport of KEY ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin for improved cleansing, hydration, circulation, and radiance. Recommended for most skin types, including sensitive skin.
Oily/Acneic Treatment - For those who suffer from acne this treatment can help remove sebaceous blockages and clear congestions that leads to acne.
What is a Galvanic Facial?
Galvanic Facials Ottawa A galvanic facial involves the use of mild electric currents consisting of positive and negative ions to refresh, stimulate and rejuvenate the skin. It uses a process by the scientific name of iontophoresis to transport electrically charged particles (ions) into the skin through gels that are positively or negatively charged. The charged ingredients are carried into the deeper layers of the skin and concentrated there.
Your Treatment
A specialized pre-treatment gel with a negative charge is applied to clean, dry skin. This step is called desincrustation and helps to cleanse the pores. After the pre-treatment gel is removed with a damp washcloth, a second gel with a positive charge is applied to the skin and left on during the use of the instrument.
The use of this second gel is called iontophoresis, or the nutrition step, for the skin. The esthetician uses a galvanic messenger with a chrome base that conducts the galvanic current directly onto the skin. The current is a mixture of positive and negative ions that help rebalance and redistribute energy throughout the skin.
Effects and Benefits of a Galvanic Facial
A galvanic facial can be considered a "non-surgical facelift", and results include smoothed out wrinkle, tightened muscles and increased blood circulation, which nourishes the skin cells. Galvanic facials can be very beneficial for individuals with very oily and/or acneic skin.
How does a galvanic treatment compare to another well-known esthetics process such as microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion thins your skin and leaves it more vulnerable, and this may result in the skin surface looking less natural. However the outcome of a galvanic facial is skin that is thicker, healthier, and more beautiful.
Galvanic treatment is recommended for most skin types, including sensitive skin. However, it is not recommended for individuals who are diabetic, have circulation concerns, have metal plates or pins, or are pregnant. For best results it is recommended to have a minimum of four treatments over a period of 8 weeks.
